The second Sideshow Premium Format devoted to the God of Thunder dates back to the end of 2015 and refers to the "Modern" version of the hero. The statue weighs approximately 7 Kg, has a size of 41 x 63 cm, and a height of 51 cm; it was realized by a large team of artists (Pablo Viggiano and Andy Bergholtz, among others) and was released both in a regular (1500 pieces) and an exclusive (750 copies) version. The exclusive is equipped with an additional right hand, holding a huge sword instead of the classic Mjolnir. I really love this piece! I think the pose is very supple and dynamic, appropriate for the character and able to highlight the eye-catching black and silver suit at best. The sleek and powerful physique is pointed out by an excellent sculpt, with a perfect definition of muscle contours on arms and legs. The outstanding aesthetic impact is assured by the dynamic pose and the overall polychromy, marked by the excellent contrast between the dominant colors of the costume, the intense red of the large cloak and the fluent blonde hair. The costume is very similar in appearance to a black leather and is embellished with thick golden edges and the four typical circular ornaments, here made of resin and painted in a very professional way. The figure is further enhanced by a beautiful leather-like belt, with a U-inverted shaped buckle, fixed at waist by a stretch, and an additional shoulder strap; the bottom edges are also equipped with an internal wire which allows to arrange the display according to your preferences. The rectangular texture of the costume is well finished by black lines and is characterized by a stunning silver coloring and many intense blue shades in correspondence to the muscle contours. Also the textures on boots, the silhouettes of the rigid shin guards and the decorative elements at the sides of the ankles are very well done. The base is constituted by a the ruins of a small staircase, whose steps are designed and colored to perfection, and shows a frieze in relief at the front. An additional part was added by the American Company, due to serious balance issues of the statue: this part is detached from the rest and ensures the correct stability of the whole piece.

The left hand (open and leaning forward) was criticized by many fans; nevertheless, it is carved and colored to perfection, with awesome, swollen veins on back, and in my humble opinion notably increases the dynamism of the pose. On the contrary, the right hand holds a rather heavy and dark Mjolnir, where the austere commandment of Odin stands out. The red cloak is well-proportioned and rich in folds: it visually follows the dynamics of the movement, providing the figure with charm and elegance. The face of Thor is awesome and very similar, in the facial traits, to the tables of Coipel and Quesada, with a strong characterization of nose and chin and a truly masterful sculpt. The painting of eyebrows, eyes and mouth is nothing short of perfect and the intense rosy color at top slightly fades toward a more yellowish hue on beard and chin. Note the long blond hair and the amazing silver helmet, equipped with folded back and highly textured wings. As said, the exclusive version offers an additional right hand holding a long sword. This add-on is very well realized and gives a significant touch of originality, although the size and slope of the sword make the display a little bit complicated and require a suitable (large) space. In conclusion, my personal judgement on this statue is very positive: it is a collectible equipped with a great visual impact, a fascinating and dynamic pose, sculpted and painted in a masterful way. Simply a must for any fan of the God of Thunder…
